Simply put, when I first learned about chiropractic I was skeptical.

Dr. Curtis Woolf

Ever since I was a little kid, I always knew I wanted to end up in health care. For the longest time I wanted to go to medical school but, when it came right down to it, the idea of prescribing drugs most of the time didn’t interest me. I had a friend who had become a chiropractor and, after talking to him about the chiropractic philosophy, I felt it was a natural fit for me. I have always thought that the body can heal itself, without drugs and surgery, for many problems. Chiropractic has given me a way to be able to help people do exactly that!

I attended school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa — the first chiropractic school in the world where I graduated as the valedictorian. I was surprised at what a detailed curriculum we had: learning about all the body’s systems and not just the back and neck.

In my first year, I was inspired by one of my teachers, Dr. Dan Weinert. When it came to education, his philosophy was to avoid simply believing everything you hear, but to study it out and really get a grasp on concepts to make sure you agreed with them. Thanks to that attitude, I can be confident that the treatment techniques used in my office are effective and research-based. My goal is to be able to offer cutting-edge techniques and treatments to my patients to allow them to heal as quickly and effectively as possible.

In my practice, our goal is to give patients options. After performing a thorough health history, physical exam and x-rays (as needed), I sit down with my patients and consult with them on their findings. Short- and long-term solutions are then explained, along with my own professional recommendation. After that, patients are asked to decide for themselves which treatment path they would like to take. My philosophy has always been — and always will be — to educate patients and allow them to make educated decisions about their health. I strongly believe that knowledge is power both for the practitioner and the patient.

My Balanced Lifestyle

I have a lovely wife and four young children and they are my inspiration. I met my wife while attending the University of Alberta. She is a Registered Nurse and works teaching nursing for the University of Alberta or Athabasca (or at least she does when she’s not at home taking care of the kids). In my personal time, I like playing with my children but also have become addicted to golf (too bad Edmonton is covered in snow half the year). I also love the mountains and enjoy hiking and being outdoors.

Health isn’t just for my patients, it’s for everyone… including myself and my family. I also benefit from chiropractic care and not from myself. I see my chiropractor every two weeks and treat my family similarly (even my kids). I also work out as I am trying to live an active healthy lifestyle because I want to live what I “preach” and enjoy life to the fullest. My attitude is that “motion is life,” so staying active is a big part of my life. Life is always changing so we need to adjust our activities to stay the healthiest we can.

Thanks for taking some time to get to know me and a little bit about my office. I look forward to meeting you and learning how I can be of service to you when it comes to your health and your body. Give our office a call or email me and we can see what we can do together to help you not only live life but enjoy it.
